Kite flying day!

A misty evening sky over Jaipur got beautifully decorated with kites on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, a harvest festival popularly known as kite flying day and celebrated on January 14 every year. Thousands spent a busy day on roofs of their houses flying kites while the streets bore an almost deserted look! (Photo date: January 14, 2010)

Devotees at Ganesha temple

Devotees wait for their turn to offer prayers to lord Ganesha at the famous Ganesha temple near Moti Doongri fortress, Jaipur (on Wednesdays the temple has separate entrances for ladies and gents). Wednesday is considered auspicious to pray to lord Ganesha and thus every Wednesday, a mela or a small fair takes place around this temple and thousands of people throng to the area.
