Keys!

A fantastic variety of stuff sells on the pavements in the Jaipur walled city. At Badi Chaupar, used keys were being sold and spread out on a mat they looked fantastic! (Photo date: March 9, 2009)

A sewing machine repair shop

A beautiful, small and dimly-lit sewing machine repair shop that I came across near Ramganj Bazaar. Some of the sewing machines at the shops were antiques in their own right. Permission to take a photo was readily given by the generous owner! (Photo date: November 28, 2007)
Wooden stools

Wooden stools lying outside a closed shop at Aatish Market, Jaipur. The shop did not have a signage but I assumed it belonged to a carpenter! (Photo date: November 3, 2006)
Makeshift pavement stove!

I found this makeshift stove in the middle of a pavement close to Rambagh Palce Hotel one evening. Necessity is the mother of invention they say, and this one was made out of footpath tiles and a few stones for support in which twigs and dry grasses had been used to light a fire in order to cook food. The inventor moved on, leaving the stove behind! (Photo date: April 22, 2006)
A street temple

A Devra, a small open air temple I found on the pavement of a street in Tilak Nagar, Jaipur. It was composed of few smooth stones placed around a tree. As far as I know, this is how temples used to be initially and have over centuries evolved to be extravagant structures with impressive idols. This one, perhaps, tells us that God exists in the simplest of things! (Photo date: April 1, 2006)
