After a day’s work

Some cycle rickshaw pullers, who ferry goods across the city, assemble at dusk at Kishanpole Bazaar before calling it a day. (Photo date: December 9, 2007)
Wall collage (4)

A parked cycle rickshaw and strong shadows of nearby wires together with torn posters and signs on an old wall made an interesting collage in a small lane near Khazane Walon ka Rasta, Jaipur walled city. (Photo date: November 24, 2007)
Parked ‘thelas’ or push carts

Parked Thelas (push carts) near Chaugan Stadium, Jaipur. (Photo date: November 24, 2007)
Lone rickshaw at dusk

A cycle rickshaw in a quiet lane at dusk, in Bapu Nagar. It was cold that evening and I guess most people preferred to stay indoors! This is a high ISO photograph. (Photo date: November 15, 2007)
Hot June afternoon!

Parked two wheelers and a somewhat vacant road at Bapu Bazaar, Jaipur, perhaps indicative of the fact that most people preferred to stay indoors on a very hot June afternoon! (Photo date: June 6, 2007)
Chock-a-block!

Parked vehicles and passerbys at Gopal-Ji ka Rasta, an ever-busy street in the walled city, famous for sweet and jewellery shops. During weekdays this street is usually extremely busy and I had a hard time finding a good spot to take a picture from! (Photo date: June 6, 2007)
Cycle rickshaws

Cycle rickshaws in Johri Bazaar, photographed against a strong and harsh early evening sun. They are a great way of travelling short distances within the city, the walled city specially and provide low investment self employment opportunities to many hardworking (and largely honest) poor people. All lit up!

A section of Mirza Ismail Road, Jaipur, profusely decorated and lit up on occasion of Diwali. Jaipur’s marketplaces are known for their extravagant decorations on the occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights. (Photo date: October 31, 2005)
